EPF Calculator — Sri Lanka
EPF (Employees' Provident Fund) deducts 8% of your basic salary each month. Your employer separately contributes 12% EPF plus 3% ETF (Employees' Trust Fund) on top — those are paid for you, never deducted — so 23% of your basic goes into retirement funds every month.
The detail most people miss: EPF applies to basic salary only, while income tax (APIT) applies to your full gross including allowances. If a large share of your pay is allowances, your EPF is smaller — better take-home today, smaller retirement pot tomorrow. Worth checking before you sign an offer letter.
Example: with a Rs. 200,000 salary that is all basic, your EPF deduction is Rs. 16,000/month and total retirement saving is Rs. 46,000/month. The calculator lets you set your exact basic/allowance split and projects your EPF pot over 10 years with compounding interest.
